as you begin to look for a teaching position there's a couple things you need to keep in mind each district is unique and within each district each campus has its own culture and climate what I would strongly recommend that you do is to take time to do an internet search to read reviews and rankings of the school also spend time in the school on the campus if you can substitute teach observe all of those things would give you a better overview of what the expectations will be once you're employed in the classroom so definitely before you're hired and before you accept a teaching position just take some time to carefully look at what the classes are like what the campus administration is like because when you're teaching you're not isolated in a cubicle you have interactions with faculty with peers with staff and with students you need to understand that it is a dynamic relationship that's being formed and we want you to be well prepared one of the key expectations is that the school day especially for first-year teachers isn't when the first bell rings and when the last bell rings the school day has long extensive hours it's 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. so that you're prepared for the students offering them your full attention and taking care of clerical duties before and after school additionally once you're hired we want to make sure that you're progressing through the program as you should while you'll be receiving support from and I teach Texas field supervisor it's also incumbent that you're progressing through the training communicating with us so that we can be there as part of your success the other thing that I want to strongly reiterate is we do take any resignation termination or administrative leave extremely seriously because it's not just affecting you as the individual you're leaving students in the classroom without their educator and so before doing anything that would terminate your employment please contact the office so that we can be advised and that we can help walk you through the process teaching is a wonderful profession and we're excited that you're wanting to choose that with the right expectations the training that we can provide and a willing attitude you will be successful in the classroom you
