the number one see a mistake okay in this video I'm going to show you the number one LLC mistake and this has to do with the way you're taxing your LLC when you set up an LLC right it's a disregarded entity so you have to tell the IRS what it is whether it's a sole proprietorship partnership S corp or C Corps let's just say you're a one-person operation and you do nothing here's what's going to happen the IRS is going to make you a sole proprietorship and let's say that's sole proprietorship right had this is a fictitious name con John Doe consulting say that sole proprietorship had a hundred thousand in income right let's take take a look at the scenario of that so we got a hundred thousand dollars in income right and then we'll just recalculate and so right now I have 28,000 597 in income tax as a result of just doing nothing when I said on my LLC however let me go over and change it and say I decided to set on my LLC as an S corp right so what I'm going to do here is I'm going to pick up my income it's going to come through from my S corp in as a k1 right and let's see what we have yeah we'll just say we have a hundred thousand dollars that we're going to distribute here right and let's just go ahead and recalculate and look at the difference between an S corp and a sole-proprietorship we take the 24 935 and subtract it from the 15 seven one nine you're gonna get 1916 and a lot of that comes from the fact that in a sole proprietorship you're going to be paying fifteen point three percent in self-employment tax so thanks for checking out our video and be sure to be smart about how you set up your LLC again remembering that it's a disregarded entity by the IRS and that you need to be able to designate whether it's going to be a sole proprietorship partnership an S corp or C Corps thanks
Thanks for your comment Terrence Rend, have a nice day.
