how can i find documents for my llc or ein first off i'm not your lawyer i'm not your attorney i'm not your cpa i'm just providing generally available information from my years of experience uh second like subscribe comment below if you're getting value out of this video um so i didn't really know how to answer this question from the perspective of just someone that doesn't know where their documents are or someone that's a customer of ours so if someone is a better legal customer and they just don't know where their documents are you just go to betterlegal.com click log in go to your live dashboard you can see all of the information that we have you can change that information if you don't like the name of your business anymore you can just change it in the field there it will pop up a prompt that says this is how you change the name we'll do it for you here's the price here's the state filing fee here's a little bit more information and then you can just boom take care of it you want to add a new manager operator to the business you want to remove a member of the business you want to change your address you can do all that you want to find your ein it's already there uh all of the information let's say you are with us for 10 years and you make a lot of changes uh to the legal documents and whatever it will all be there in perpetuity so we'll have a log of all that so if you use us you don't really have to worry about that because you can just go to the website log in we've always got it but if you just lost your information that's more complicated uh if it's a state-related thing it's not that bad you just go to secretary of state's website again you can go to betterleal.com and look under resources there's a name search thing and it'll show you all 50 states and links to where you can do the name search most states will have the pdf of the original paper filing on file and they'll be public so you can actually go find anybody's llc um as long as the state supports this and just type in the name of the business your business and uh once you get there you just download the pdf that's the original filing will be public most of the time so that's how you get the llc document from the state um if you can't find it you can always call the the secretary of state they're there to help you i will say that they are sometimes on the website it's not updated i have called myself uh the new york secretary of state waited on the phone for an hour i said hey have faxed this document to you and they said what fax did you use and i said i gave gave them the number and they said oh that's not the right fact somewhere i said it's on your website they go yeah it just hasn't been updated in a while that's just how these government entities are and this is why it's such a pain and why it's so beneficial to you someone like us better legal uh if you so so yeah you can just call the secretary of state you'll wait on the phone for a little bit uh same with the irs the irs is a lot harder because it's a lot bigger organization than any of the states uh you're gonna get you're gonna usually have to fax them they love faxing and so if you fax them it's going to take weeks so you got to figure out exactly what you're going to fax them maybe it's a request for information for your uh ein number that you lost you know maybe just go look at old tax records if you can if you can think of where those are otherwise you have to do a request for information it's a fax it's going to take six to eight weeks and you're just gonna have to wait and so that's a big pain so anyway hopefully that was useful if you found it useful like subscribe uh comment share get an llc from better legal tell a friend to get an llc from better legal you can actually go to betterlegal.com forward slash referrals and become an affiliate referral even if you're not a customer of ours and you will be able to give a hundred dollar discount to any of your friends or family and once they buy we will then send you 100 check in the mail how can we afford to do that well it's actually less expensive to do that it's more profitable for us to do that and share the wealth with your friend and you than it is to get a customer from google ads we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars a month on google ads and um other billion dollar tech companies uh to earn business and so we'd rather you spread the wealth and i'll share it with you so uh you can do that and that's it until next time

how to find the registered agent of a corporation or llc for service of process hey my name is lance casey and i am a california private investigator and process server and as a process server we're hired to serve legal documents all the time and people will try to serve you know like a corporation or an llc but you re those entities are required by their secretary of state to appoint a registered agent for service of process so in essence they have to appoint a company or a person to accept service or process and what service or process is is when we deliver legal documents to the registered agent who then forwards it to the um the entity and it notifies them that they're involved in some kind of court action so i'm hired every day to serve corporations and llc's and when i when i'm serving them i'm not going to the corporate office directly i'm going to their registered agent and so what i'm going to do today is show you how you can do a search online to find out who a drive sacramento california 9583 and so um now let me get this out the way i'm no attorney this is not legal advice this is just what i do i'm just sharing with you what i do as a california processor so let's say that a person hot wants to hire you you're not in california in another state and they want you to serve airbnb well the person that hired you should have researched to determine who the registered agent is and then in most states it's probably all states it's corporation service company because there's a corporation service company in every state so we're gonna do some some some searches on these various states uh websites to see who the registered agent is now i this is a key even though i may know who the registered agent is i make the client find it and the client give me that registered agent's name and their address i put it back into their their hands so if there's an error it's their fault not my fault because you know i don't want them to hire me to go serve some documents and i look it up myself and take it to the wrong place and now i'm blamed and i and for doing a bad service of process so i'll i'll usually give them the link to the secretary of state's website so they can do the search themselves then they tell me where to go but um but even though i may know this already so we're gonna go to um here let's pull it up an incognito uh web page here and so we are in nevada's secretary of state's um business entity search and i just realized this they're starting some some states now are charging you to do these kind of searches and so nevada is free for now but some states you actually have to create an account to do these kind of searches but nevada is pretty simple you want to search for you know contains exact match starts with so the what we're searching for is airbnb so you type in airbnb and you go down here and you click search and they give you several listings several listings and none of them are just airbnb specifically um and so i've i've searched these looked at these before and so let's just say we went through when he says okay which one is it let's try airbnb payments it's a foreign company and so airbnb payments inc it's get their entity number the date that they file to and look at this registered agent information that's where the documents go so a process server is hired in nevada to serve airbnb they take them to corporation service company here on north north curry street that's where you would deliver the documents corporation service company on north curry street so if there's any carson city process servers watching this video this is a great niche process serving location so if you could create content about serving that location you could get lots of cases going there because i know corporation service company is representing thousands of entities in nevada i know they are so the next state we're going to search is florida's secretary of state office and so on their page you enter the entity name so we're going to type in airbnb click search okay and they give us several listings as well of different airbnb entities so let's just click airbnb inc the first one and it's a foreign profit corporation in san francisco and look who their registered agent is corporation service company in tallahassee so if you're in tallahassee serving airbnb you would take it to corporation service company on hayes street so florida process servers if you're in tallahassee that is a great location to target with your niche marketing on getting clients to serve airbnb in florida because they represent thousands of corporations already know they do now we're going to search now in washington this is the washington secretary of state's website so we're going to type in the business name is airbnb and click search let's see what comes up let's see what comes up okay we've got a bunch of different types of airbnb airbnb here here's that airbnb payments again and look this is that address in san francisco remember the other one we looked up it had a san francisco address there's another address in san francisco and look who their registered agent is corporation service company corporation service company so let's click on airbnb oh look at this now if you're trying to niche market for finding registered agents it gives you a list so you could actually search and do a search on this name here to see where they're located and if they're a a registered agent for lots of companies you can niche market for them just like you do for corporation service company so we're gonna click on airbnb payments where was it oh you know what airbnb payments it shows corporation service company and it was at tumwater washington so if you're a process server in tumwater washington you should be marketing towards serving documents the corporation service company because i know they get served multiple times a day there's no doubt okay now we're gonna check ohio secretary of state's business search so we're going to type in airbnb again and who do you think is going to be the registered agent anybody want to point a comment on that who do you think is going to be the registered agent click search okay so we're gonna look down here airbnb checks airbnb insurance airbnb payments again so we're gonna show the details and guess what corporation service company in columbus ohio is their registere
